Hi guys,
I was doing my quarterly electrical testing of one of our local asphalt plants.
The installation is monitored and controlled via an Astec system supplied by an American mob.
The plant runs off a large gen set at 50hz and the plant is designed to run at 50hz.
The plant is new and has been tested only once before this by myself with no issues. This test run I came to a light and power distribution panel that has 10 Mod 6 NHP single pole RCD/MCB combo's.
All of these breakers passed the first test 3 months ago and now this test 9 out of 10 failed to trip via an induced fault and failed to trip with the test button.
In 10 years I have done a lot of RCD testing and never seen that many fail in that manner in such a short period.
Any one had a similar experience or thoughts on this issue?
I have since replaced all the breakers with 20amp single pole Schneider rcds and am hoping not to have to replace them under warranty by next test?
Cheers
