The Chevy Cavalier just isn't running smoothly any more. The engine starts well and shifts into gear without any problems. The problem is that there is an annoying banging and scraping sound that gets both louder and faster as I speed up. The car never used to overheat but now it overheats rather quickly. I hope someone can help.

I checked the tires and they are all inflated properly. The left blinker fluid was low. I filled it up. I hope there was no permanent damage done by running the car with the left blinker fluid low. The battery is fine but the passenger side headlight is out.
I read on CR4 recently that windshields have millions of tiny pits in them. I suspect that these pits may be causing drag and therefore causing the car to overheat. I can try cleaning the windshield and applying Rain-X to make the glass more smooth. That should help some but I think there are other problems.
Everyone knows that CR4 is the world headquarters for Chevy Cavalier experts. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
