Mertirial

04/17/2015 8:46 PM

We want to know a kind of metal whose reflectance parameters is high and density is small. And it is available to buy. Besides, the metal should be malleable. We think that aluminium may be a good choice. Do you have other better suggestion?

And we also want to get a kind of laser with large power. It would be better if the laser is common in laboratory or is available to buy.

Why not use HDPE, and silver paint?

What are you building CJ?

Low density (weight) and highly reflective...like a lamp reflector?

Loads of lasers in the market, take your pick.

I bet he's trying to demonstrate light pressure:

Looks like.

Flat plastic reflector then, same mertirial combination as a lamp reflector.

I hope you are right! Otherwise, it sounds like it might be a nefarious activity.

Isn't it a new lightweight metal with high reflectance?

Yes, that's what I want! Do you know exactly what metal it is? Could you tell me the name of it.

Very thin aluminium foil or gold leaf.

There are likely materials with better reflectance available but the important thing is to keep the weight down and these materials are available in very thin formats and are relatively inexpensive.

This would be a good place to start given your previous comments that this is for demonstration purposes only and your not trying to perform an actual precision test.

Based on your previous posts, aluminium foil or perhaps gold leaf. Both are used in these types of experiments and both are inexpensive, compared to the requested laser....

Laser source supplier - try GlobalSpec. As for the size, I don't know how large you will need, you will have to do some research into previous experiments and what light sources they used.

"chrome" paints can look amazingly like the real thing.

Plastic with a shiny coating is a good way to go.

Seriously? Changing your name and posting brief comments as an excuse to advertise your website doesn't fool anyone here.

How many user names have you tried posting under so far, at least 4 or is it 5.

You can polish just about any metal to be super reflective.

Just have to watch for what type of surface finish you are specking out.

As others have stated, there are thousands of laser products out there just have to do some research as to what type you really need.

There is a new lightweight mertirial that is called Timtaniam and it has all the properties you want.

It was developed by Tim Allen during a controlled thermo-nuculear fishin fuseion experiment to get more heat out of his soldering iron.
