Just Need a Lil Help

05/13/2015 10:13 AM

I am way off my base here but I hope you won't mind too much.

I am a small repair center for underground locating equipment. Some of my clients are oil companies and for several months now they have been asking us to repair Barton Hydrostatic Recorders. So we have been looking for info about training for this task. So far we can neither find the Barton manufacturing or their service center. Perhaps someone on this site might have some info for us. If so I would be grateful for your assistance. Sorry that I have no technical question to stump you with but I always have a good Joke. Maybe Later. Thank you for allowing me to visit and thank you in advance if you can assist me on this matter. Bob

You need to find a hydrostatic training certification school.....here's one...

Barton is actually ITT Barton, www.ittbarton.com

Repair is easy, it's almost always just a case of replacing parts. The tricky part and what the oil companies are likely asking is can you calibrate them. After any repair they will need to be calibrated and also on a regular (annual) basis thereafter. For this you will need a pressure source and a reference pressure indicator. You will also very likely need some form of certification from whoever governs Calibration in the us, both for your shop and for whoever does the calibration.

This might help, http://www.nist.gov/pml/wmd/labmetrology/calibration.cfm
