type of the transmitter . Ultrasonic , radar or diaphgram . Actully the tanks are on lease and there is no possiblity of fixing diaphgram type . Other then Ultrasonic or radar , they are high in price . Any other cheap and best option.

Are you looking for something to give you a remote read with a 4-20mA signal? what kind of chemical are you storing? if you are looking for cheap, have a sight glass installed that is graduated, but then you will have to walk out and read it. the flowline products aren't too expensive.

Yes , for remote display . I was likly to install the sight glass but as per safty it was not good solution . The only concern is that radar or ultrasonic .What is best .

the radar ones seem to be a better all around, we have had problems with the ultrasonic getting a film on the sensor and reading off (usually low and causing overflows). the radar ones that we have been looking into say they are accurate to 3mm once you span them. mfr is ohmart/vega. Are there already plates that you can remove to place them. I remember you saying that they were leased tanks?

I looked up the specs for the Endress+Hauser, and they appear to be a good product. When I looked to see what the cost was for the model that would fit your application (FMU 230), all of the places that I looked at said to call for price. that usually tells me that it is either an older model that isn't carried, or it is pricey. Since you say that cost is a factor, I would still suggest the flowline for ultrasonic. They are easy to setup and install, and if you have a process that will leave a film on the sensor if it splashes on it, they are easy to clean. We have them on a caustic tank, and only have to clean them if they overfill the tank. But we recently put in safeguards on the plc to limit the fill to 75% even on manual fill. So for inexpensive and easy to use, try the flowline product.

Good Luck!

Without knowing what the chemical is the best and most cost effective choice is Ultrasonic. As another posted use flowline, they are the cheapest but reliable.

What material are tanks and where are they located? Guided radar by Endress+Hauser can be located outside of tank if material plastic/fiberglass and not exposed to environment may be way to go with probe on outside of tank. Ultrasonic non-contact continuous measurement will work too; need nozzle on top of tank.

I too have had film issue's with ultrasonics, especially if it's a solution that foams at all.

I have just installed Madison continuous level sensors, $150 each and very straightforward. Can buy out of Grainger, I don't know how robust they are yet as they've only been in about a month.

Best and Cheap is an oxymoron, but besides that other questions are in order. What type of chemical is in tank. Where is the fill port located? Is the tank vented? Is agitator in tank? Are you searching for continuous measurement or point level? Answer these questions and you will recieve better solution.

the chemicals are peroxide , caustic , sodium silicate .on the top is the filling port. The main drawback is the tanks are not vented .The tanks are placed horizontal without any agitators on them . I am searching for continuos level.
