Most Popular Open Source Design

05/18/2015 2:15 PM

Hello,

We are college and hobbyist group based in Chicago. We do monthly batch PCB. In other words, we combine all our circuit boards design into one batch to get a good deal on the our prototype circuit boards. way cheaper and without mouse bytes than oshpark.com.However, lately we are not able to fully fill-up the board batch(around 300 sq. inch). Our group is trying to find if there are any open source barebones PCB that all you guys use more frequently. We can make them part of our batch and provide it as cheap as $3 a square inch two layer. I should note, we do not work with China. All our PCBs are manufactured locally in Chicago and lead free. Any help finding us most popular open source bare bones PCB design will be very helpful for us to keep our project alive….

Your posting is a little confusing. It looks like you are trying to find people to use your group for PCB fabrication. That is close to being a commercial advertisement (not for our Discussion Page) but if it is hobby boards from people grouping their orders together for a price break then our Web Masters might not mind.

What does "open source" have to do with your posting?

"Any help finding us most popular open source bare bones PCB design" sounds like you want people to give you open source designs that you can then fab in batches and resell. Is this what you want?

When I try to browse to www.pcbnow.com my spam and virus filter traps the attempt and forbids me to go there. Is that your web page?

Please help us better understand your group and what you are trying to do.

i am not trying to find the people or advertisement. its not a business. we are just group of people doing the batch. most of us are college student with not much real life expereience. We are not able to fill up the 300 sq. inch board with our proto we created for our class. so we are trying to find if there are any non-copyrighted board that we can add to our batch that are used by others. so we can fill up our board. again, we are not trying to sell anything or advertise anything.

That sort of defeats the purpose of pcb design doesn't it?

Ever hear of Vector board? inquire@vectorelect.com They can be used to build many different circuits.

Maybe someone here: HeatSync Labs might have some advice.

HeatSync Labs is a bunch of geeks and hobbyists who are well equipped with tools and work space.

Most popular open source design is 'low TIM Leach amplifier'.

If you want to NOT Waste the board and want pcb design artwork, you can google search images 'pcb artwork', and select a few that will be useful for some of you for personal DIY. The schematic will mostly be available in the link it appeared from. There may even be gerber files. Audio designs can be used by anyone for hobby.
