How to Improve Earth Pit Resistance Value Below or Near 1 Ohm ?

06/12/2015 11:48 AM

I have a lot of earth pits but since the area around the earth pits are dry, morum soil the resistance value are around 10 Ohms. I would like to reduce the value around 1 Ohm for which bentonite compound already used with not much good results. I heard that there is some chemical by applying which on the earth pits the resistance values can be lowered down appreciably. I would like to know the name and availability of the chemical in India like brand name, manufactures' name etc.

One method is a number of steel rods, driven down from the ground point. Often salt or copper sulphate is used with a little water around each rod.

The large area of the rods helps lower the resistance and the salt or copper sulphate acts as ion donor to boost conductivity

Is the soil rocky, how is rainfall in that area, what is the resistivity of soil, depending on these factors type of electrode and depth to be decided by a consultant.

Ground resistance improving agents are an adjunct too not a replacement for a properly designed system.

You say earth pit.

There are so many types.

Exactly what do you have now and what is it that you are grounding?

Did you install an earthing grid that connects to the earthing rods on the pits? How about your connection, are the cables exothermally welded?

Seawater. I don't know about brand names. Just pour a lorry-load in each pit.

Obvious method is parallel electrodes.
