Automation PC 800 Failing to Communicate with Touch Panel

We have arround 7 APC800 from B&R, recently some two touch panels have completly blacked out, the touch panel is connected on Link one of the apc 800 throug a serial com.

The link 1 LED status indicator is steadly flashing and that means that the touch panel power was interupted. If i unplug the touch panel from link 1 , it's status indicator lights steadly, implying there is no problem with the apc800 without the touch panel.

Access to the APC800 can also be achieved if a PG is connected, through ethernet and i can monitor the process very well, but however, logon is done automatically and the higher level password i use to logon at the touch panel is not accepted at the PG. it seems the auto logon is restricated to operator rights.

Before thinking of the reinstalling the touch panel divers, has anyone had a similar situation before or any other idea?

We were not hacked because its on the industrial network which is not conected to the internet.

Shall be contacting the OEM next week, thanks, Shall give you feed back, if any.

The screens use back light to make the writing on the screen visible. Take a torch and shine it at an angle from the top at an angle into the screen and see if you can see writing. If you see writing and can get the instructions to replace the $10 back light, just replace the light. Little challenging if you know nothing about Touch screens. The indicator led will also blink if someone wiped or punched on some places on the screen sending a total unprocessable command to the processor.

If you do the test at least you will prevent the agent selling you a new computer or whole $1400 screen. To have it professionally replaced should be about $70.00. Good luck.
