Yes. I've dropped a heavy object onto aluminum bar, and boy, did it deform it.

All joking aside, why? If you are referring to rebar aluminum would be a lousy choice in concrete- a friend of mine just did a job that required stainless steel rebar.

Yes. I tripped over a load and bent them only last week.

Youngken,

What are you looking for?

A lightweight rebar or just Aluminum rebar profile.

What's your mission soldier?

A light weight rebar which can be used with coupler (can be threaded), most probably aluminium rebar

I think there would be issues with corrosion between the aluminum and concrete. Are you looking for a lightweight reinforcing solution? Look at the Basslt rebar or look at some type of tubing. How much do you need?

I don't see the logic of wanting a lightweight (as in Aluminum) reinforcing bar in a concrete structural element when the bar weight is such a tiny percentage of the total weight.

Also, aluminum reacts terribly with alkaline concrete.

Additionally, aluminum doesn't not exhibit the same ductility as steel rebar, hence you will most likely encounter a catastrophic failure (with no advanced warning like you would with steel reinforcement) of a concrete structural element.

One advantage is installation in difficult to access geographic areas.

One big disadvantage compared to steel is the lack of bending capacity. So straight bars only ?
