Which is Faster, Mustang or Tesla?

My first experience with electric motor torque was as a kid, sailing down the isle of an electric trolley bus after failing to hold on to something when it took off.

I don't know about those cars but when my Uncle was a young kid, the neighbor was an aircraft machinist / mechanic. He built a go-cart powered by a 24 VDC aircraft engine starter and controlled by a knife switch.

You had to engage and disengage the switch to get your speed. Leave the switch engaged and you were riding a rocket.

He lost control and hit the driveway at about 40 MPH, flew about 6 feet in the air and luckily landed in some very overgrown ivy 30 feet away.

It looked something like the one below.

I at one time I had to repair and test R1820 Pratt & Whitney starters. The breakaway torque setting was 320 Ft Lbs. They were about the size of the one shown on that cart.

As I got old enough to ride the go-cart, the neighbor Bill (Wild Bill) deemed the go-cart to dangerous and would not let us ride it.

If he were still alive I think Nicolas Tesla could beat a horse in a race as long as distance was short and a change of direction at the half way point was included, otherwise my money is with the horse.

It's tough to beat a quarter horse off the line.
