Template for MIL-STD-961E

07/16/2007 11:24 PM

Hi,

I need to prepare a performance specification meeting the requirements of MIL-STD-961E. I have a PDF copy of the standard and tons of other supporting documents and am looking for an easier (faster) way of preparing my spec.

Does anyone know of a template that will speed up the process of creating the document? I've spent a few hours searching and came up empty.

Thanks,

Paul.

procco:

It's not a template, but MIL-STD-961E, Figure 1, Page 53, does have a checklist for spec preparation.

A specification for preparing specifications must be the ultimate in something. It seems to be part of a much needed effort though. The old spec system was the driving force behind the $600 toilet seats and screwdrivers. Can you imagine the cost and trouble of responding to an RFQ for 10 B-52 toilet seats when the original supplier and all of his suppliers are out of business. It would cost more than $6000 just to prepare the quote. The ability to use commercially available equipment has been much needed for many years.

I am familiar with only one mil spec: MIL-TD-41. (Make It Like The Drawing, For Once.)

Actually, I remember that spec as MIL-TFD-41. You can guess what the "F" was for.
