Problem with Twin Line Servomotor Controller with Hiperface Encoder

06/30/2015 12:28 AM

We have a device with a servomotor controller Twin Line TLC532 along with a AC Servomotor with Hiperface Encoder.

Our problem is that when we shutt down the energy and then power up again the device indicates a error that say "Following positioning error" and we solve it reloaded the software to the controller all the startups.

At first we assumed that the controller was wrong and we replace it but the problem continues so the problem is on the Hiperface or any software parameter may be.

If someone know about topic and can help us thanks in advance.

Excusse me for my english, I know it´s bad.

Does the system have a standby mode? Depending upon the exact way the system knows the postion of the servo (absolute vs. relative encoding), when you completely remove all power it looses all positioning information. When you turn it back on and reload the softwre it goes through an initializing process where it relearns the zero position and is then ready to accept commands relative to it

If there is a standby mode then this information would be retained in memory between operations. Contact the manufacturer if it used to work properly and now it doesn't, it may have a battery backup that needs recharging/replacing.

It is not a good idea to be cycling power to any machine controller unless the design allows it.

It may be that the machine is losing memory when power is cycled.

Most devices have the ability to utilize "flashing" of the program memory or installing batteries for backup so that the program is not affected by loss of power.

If you have a battery already installed it is most likely bad and needs to be replaced.

Another item to look at is whether the machine program has a designated start position already programmed which is in disagreement with where the machine is physically located.

If so, it will be necessary to reset the starting position parameter so that the program accepts whatever position the machine is located at as the current start position.

CAUTION! Be sure that resetting and/or reprogramming the machine start point is not detrimental to the machine operation or the process.

You can't shut down the power to the drive without disabling it first, or it will notice it too late, when it has already lost holding torque, or position tracking, thus issued the error.

  1. If you must shut the system down from the main disconnect, make sure an auxiliar contact is in series with the ENABLE input of your drive and that it opens when your main contactor shuts off; this way it will let the motor go, and give a damn about its position, until you resume operations.
  2. Before you resume operations, make sure you've added yet another contact in series to the one previously mentioned, and that it responds to your "DRIVE READY" output signal, this way your servo won't be enabled until it is actually ready to start receiving commands.

Thanks to all for the valuable information, however I dont think that the problem is how we to turn it off.

We have a equal machine to te side and does not have this problem.

I think that the problem is on Hiperface, it´s a absolute encoder and more, it preserve the data motor like type, I max, pair of poles and etc...... and we think, without certainty,is it the motor data or absolute position of the motor are the data should inform Hiperface after power up and this does not happen.

I suggest that this may be the problem but I´m not sure.

Thanks

Verify that you're loading the configuration and program to "non-volatile memory" there should be an option for that in your development software, also select "start execution on power-ups".
