FCU-Chilled Water Connection

07/05/2015 1:31 AM

A franchised company of world leader in HVAC in Saudi Arabia is manufacturing Chilled water coils of 3 ROD for FCUs with water in horizontally at the bottom of 10" vertical header on the left side of FCU air leaving side. The out let is in the middle of 10" verticle header at air endering side on left side only. The same coil is turned up side down to make the coil with right and side in/out. This makes the chilled water entering at the middle of header on filter side and out let at bottom of air leaving side. This defeate the fundementals of heat exchanger of cross flow. the company says it doesnt make any difference.

The chilled water is pumped through not naturally convected. The manufacturer is right.

What if the chiller HEX is horizontal? It still works.

My dear friend,

the chilled water should enter on the air out let side of FCU and return should be at the air entering air filter side for max heat removal on counter flow basis.

That sounds like a nono.

The air out let is for air. If water enters there its a water inlet.

I doubt it will be both.

Tell us what we miss ...

.

.... oh never mind I think I know what you mean . . .

Could you not just put the pump on the other side?
