MEMS Promote X-Ray Optics

07/17/2007 10:24 AM

In a recent SPIE article, Japanese researchers discuss how MEMS technology is paving the way for the development of X-ray optics by providing an ultra-lightweight and low-cost solution. Based on semiconductor fabrication technologies, the new micro-pore optics will likely find use in astronomy applications.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from MEMS Technology, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to MEMS Technology today.

Good information. X-ray LASER even though was discovered way back in 1970, it was kept as closed door secret. With such simple emerging technologies, it will now reach homes through domestic electronics such as home computers, and audio-video systems. Micro machining techniques will again evolve superior micro machined devices for many applications.
