If you read the entire story, Lockheed make a fairly poor excuse regarding this test.

The special software and targeting system wasn't installed on 3 different areas of the fighter.

My question is..... Why did they send in a F-35 that wasn't fully equipped for this test? It seems it was doomed to fail from the start!

It's a good airplane, or a dog. Depending on whether you listen to a pilot who flew it or a company wag being paid to defend it.

And really cheap too, compared to, uh, well, it's a good airplane.
