07/11/2015 7:53 AM

Dear Expert,

As per 650,para 7.2.3.6, Completed weld of stress relieved assemblies shall be examined by visual,as well as by magnetic particle or penetrant methods, after stress relief, before hydro test.

Question:

Is it required for shell to shell weld(butt joint) MT or PT.

If the code calls for mandatory testing, then it must be done, or the unit does not comply.
