Really? What are the names of the organic chemicals they found? (I have been looking and haven't been able to find any specifics.) To me, they (the project leaders) are suffering from a paucity of credibility.

specifically, it detected glycine, which contains carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen-four critical elements needed to build molecules in primitive life-forms

Philae found 16 organic compounds, four of which-methyl isocyanate, acetone, propionaldehyde, and acetamide-were not previously known to exist on comets. It also found benzene-a cyclic hydrocarbon-and lots of CO2.

As far back as the 1950s, it's been known that "biological precursors" can be made by adding energy to "inorganic" carbon compounds like mathane and ammonia. I don't know if that's what's happening here, but there should be a lot of high energy radiation out there.
