I am only aware of the common method, which is grinding. Or use a cutting method with less slag, such as laser or water jet. It could be worse, you could be flame cutting!

Chemetall Oakite (www.oakite.com) has several laser scale and plasma scale removal chemistries that prepare the part for painting etc. Call your local rep for Oakite and get some info from him/her.

I would call in an ESAB plasma expert. This is likely related to your choice of plasma gases, water in the system if you are using an air plasma system or a choice of consumables and operating parameters.

Cutting speed can also play a role. depending on the material thickness, you may require a different system.

I know ESAB as I worked for them for many years and I am convinced they know more than any of the other system manufactures based on my experience with them.
