In a river. Has three wheels so its a trike!

Somebody dumped it in the Mississippi or the Mississippi took it from the front yard.

Hiroshima tricycle...

This was buried in the backyard with the remains of it's small rider, dug up some 40 years later and donated to the Peace Memorial Museum...

Another reminder of the complete and utter foolishness that is war. One can only hope that the child to whom it belonged did not suffer as the bomb hit.

We sure wish we didn't have to fight them, but it's better than the alternative.

At the risk of being too detached and clinical (and if I don't fight to 'shut down' my emotions here, they'll overwhelm me):

The bike looks to be in good structural condition, so it wasn't hit with debris, just the heat flash.

The caption states that it was recovered with the remains of its rider, so the child died on/near it.

So deduction would indicate that she died from the heat blast, and was most likely in the What Comes Next before she even knew anything had happened.

(Now, if you'll pardon me, I think I need to have an emotional breakdown.)

Think back to every war we have been in. Every country we have fought with, we are now for the most part allies with. What a wast

I've served my time in the US military, non-combat position, but Basic Training is all about the core skills of fighting and killing, so any soldier can be dragged to the front lines if there are too many rifles and not enough hands to use them.

One of the things they 'prime' you for is 'dehumanizing the enemy.' They work to get you in the mindset that whomever you are fighting isn't a 'real' person, just a 'thing' to be eliminated before 'it' injures or kills you or your buddies. There are many labels that get applied, 'enemy,' 'foe,' 'charlie,' 'infidel,' 'traitor,' 'rebel,' the list goes on, every military and paramilitary force teaches/indoctrinates this, so the fighters will not hesitate when the time comes to pull the trigger, since hesitation could mean more losses of 'allied' troops.

That's why it can be hard to win 'hearts and minds' in a war, because the opposing soldiers, have been trained, and the civilians indoctrinated through propaganda, to harden their hearts and close their minds.

There's also a problem when servicemembers, especially those who have served in combat, are not properly 'retrained' when being 'outprocessed' for civilian life, and they end up walking into the real world with their minds still set to 'us vs them,' with 'them' being 'anyone who seems different.'

You also get the children of military families, who could accidentally get 'indoctrinated' by the spillover of having a parental role model display their 'dehumanizing' attitudes at home, since it's not something that can be turned on and off like a light switch. Those kids, when they grow up and have families of their own, could pass on those twisted values, even if they themselves do not go into the military.

We have also seen the problems with 'para-militarizing' our Law Enforcement training, where the police forces end up 'dehumanizing' the very people they have been hired to Protect and Serve.

Thinking this over as I type, I think I'm beginning to see a pattern, a thread weaving through several 'social issues' within the US. Bigotry/Racism, Police Brutality, even Domestic Violence, so much of it is, it not directly caused by, at least influenced/strengthened by, the efforts of the War Hawks to keep this country in Eternal Conflict, and the Warrior Culture they try to instill in the people.

But how to stop this cycle, we need to kill it from the head (even our language has Warrior Culture connotations in its idioms). We can't stop violence with violence, we need peace. Let's start by capturing all the War Hawks in Congress, strap them down in chairs with their eyelids propped open, Clockwork Orange style, and make them watch a 24/7 stream of Barney and My Little Pony until they either change their hateful ways or go insane.

We'll also need to go after the Corporate side of the Military-Industrial complex, but they aren't in it for the Hate, they're in it for the Money. I don't know, maybe an endless stream of The Joy of Painting, with Bob Ross? Burn away their Greed with 'happy little trees.'
