DP Flometer Works but Unstable

Dear Mates

I want your kind advice about following below (It is very critical problem on my work)

I have a Dp flowmeter (Orifice plate) , It measures a super-heated on 430 degree .

The problem is that :- The super-heated is vaporize on Transmitter so that makes its reading error , after I get it backs to work its reading is rising then becomes zero at last Negative . And when I make a drian too much water come out from Transmitter .

so that makes it unstable , Pls I need your help ASAP .

The low side how much I should put a pressure : Is it zero or other value ?

From your description it sounds like you have a misapplication of instrumentation. A change in phase state on either side of an orifice will lead to an inaccurate flow calculation by the instrumentation. If one adds an absolute pressure gauge to the one side of the orifice with the phase change (downstream) a non-linear low accuracy calculation could be attempted.

with zero feedback from the OP, which is usually a red flag to not bother, but I'm feeling charitable today so I'll give it one more spin.

1) Are there two condensate/seal pots hidden under the insulation, about where the arrow is located?

2) Are the condensate/seal pots higher in elevation in than the pipes taps, similar to the respective elevations of the condensate pot and taps in this diagram?

3) Condensate/seal pots need to drop the temperature of the steam and allow it to condense to water, that's their purpose. Insulating them keeps the condensate (under pressure) nearer its flash point temperature. Why are the condensate/seal pots insulated?

4) Why do you say, "too much water come out from Trinsmitter" when you drain the impulse line? How much is too much? 3cc's? 800L?

Please provide examples: the values, the numbers as they rise, then become zero then negative and over what period time?Is there a trend chart from the DCS that shows this ? What criteria are you using for the correct amount of water?

Is the decline from some rising maximum to zero a straight drop to zero?

6) Out of curiosity, are there root valves at the taps?

see #2 below...also, if you type the manufacturer of your DP cell into google search, and then look under applications: steam, you are bound to find an installation drawing suited to your application.

It is troubling why so many persist with differential pressure, which is soooooo 1973, when vortex shedding is a more reliable technique...<sigh>
