Rollings and rings on tapered thrust bearings

Hi,

I am student, and I work on project about tehnology grindings rings and rollings of tapered thrust bearings ( I need practical parameters about this,name of some book or literatures,magazines,web pages...).

I think, that, this proces of grinding, is posiblle on some special grinding mashine (VOUMARD-Switzerland, FAMIR, CIMAT, NOVA-Italy, LIDKOPING-Sweden,
GIUSTINA BESLEY-Italy, KOYO-Japan,WMW-Germany,TACHELLA-Japan, CINCINATY-USA....), or CNC line with specific relatively running of part and grinding wheel.Position part on mashine and clumping devices are very interesting,and I think that,the part must be rotate on mashine for bigest corner.Cup grinding wheel for mashinig of runway of rings is possiblle,but problem is with washing of grinding chips.Small grinding tool for inside dimensions,are imposiblle for using.Of course,tolerances,of final product are very high.

What you think about this problems ?

Knows world producer of bearings (SKF,TIMKEN,....on theirs web) don t present texts about this, and that is main problem.

If anyone knows something about this complexly tehnology,I will very obligated.

You are right, the grinding of races happens to be most crucial and precision part of the job in the manufacturing of any type of bearings. The clamping of the races on the machine, do give major effect to the grinding output. as The process starts with, grinding the two faces of any ring. where by the tolerances narrow to any where around .005mm [5micron approx.] this can be done, on surface grinder, preferably with round table rather horizontal, the second important process is grinding the OD, which is to be done on Center less grinder which has to be done twice, once prior to grinding the internal races and second pass when the grindings of all the other areas are finished, i.e prior to forwarding it to assembly line. After this operations, the races are send to internal grinders where the inner races are grinded. and subsequently the lip grinding takes place after grinding the bore, lip grinding, can take place on any grinding machine, with internal grinder head onit and the grinding acutally can be done with the help of DISC WHEEL. the disc wheel edges can be further reduced in its thickness by using diamon dresser to match the gap between the lower part of the lip and the upper edge of the track in INNER RING.
