Now Casting: Designers, Engineers, Inventors and Other ‘Makers!’

08/24/2015 6:49 PM

I'm a Casting Producer working with Intel looking for innovators who are creating the next big wearable or smart-connected device. We are looking nationwide for inventors, makers, and engineers for this new series and will reward the winner with a $1,000,000 prize!

Intel, Turner Broadcasting, Mark Burnett, the Producer of "Shark Tank", "Survivor", and "The Apprentice", and his United Artists Media Group are searching for inventors with the next big technology innovation for a new television series, "America's Greatest Makers".

Intel is taking its "Make It Wearable" challenge to the next level and is looking nationwide for contestants to create the next big wearable or smart-connected device using Intel's Curie Module™. This new series will chronicle the competition among the finalists who will be mentored by Intel engineers to make their ideas a reality.

For more information and to apply go to: americasgreatestmakers.com

Any questions, please email. GOOD LUCK!

** Must be 15 + years old - other eligibility requirements apply. Submissions are due by October 2, 2015.

Sorry, this almost sounds like phishing to me.

"Give us your new technology and we'll get back to you".

Having the producer of "Shark Tank", "Survivor", and "The Apprentice" involved hardly makes me want to participate.

To me, Donald "I'm rich and everybody loves me (or better had)" Trump is the kiss of death.

No need to be sorry, I understand where you're opinion is coming from.

If you head to our website, www.americasgreatestmaker.com you can read the fine print. There will be no investors, and no percentage taken by the television production company.

Intel held this competition last year, and next year it will be televised. Please feel free to look into Intel's 2014 challenge: http://newsroom.intel.com/community/intel_newsroom/blog/2014/11/03/chip-shot-nixie-wins-500000-grand-prize-in-intel-make-it-wearable-challenge

Sorry but, LynDoor™Industries has had this on the market for two years.

Our TwoWay®WiFi Ties are far more discreet than a gaudy watch phone. And they take pictures and have a 10 Gbite memory in the label.

Then there's my 360° vision device...as you look left and right the camera view moves in an exaggerated manor so that your normal field of vision to the left and right each become 180° capable...

Well, at least you're a good sport about it all.

I am concerned that some kid's inspired idea might find its way to market without him getting the credit and $$$$$.

Lyn,

That definitely WILL NOT happen. This wearable product inventor is not only winning $1,000,000+, but they'll own their product. It will just have to be created using the Intel Curie Module SoC.

I appreciate you looking out for other makers, though.

which brings this honest question to mind. is the money intended as seed money to develop the product and bring it to market or is the money simply a prize for bringing a product idea to Intel? I watched the video with the wearable copter for taking pics. It's hard to image it having sales large enough to cover its development costs......but a cool toy and the Intel boys had some fun I'm sure.

Really great question, Fredski.

Technically, there will be five $100,000 prizes for a winner in each category, and then one overall grand prize $1,000,000 winner. That money is considered PRIZE money, to be used at the discretion of the winner.

Currently, Intel states that the winner has an opportunity to bring the invention to market with its help (it will required to be powered with a wearable SoC Curie Module), depending on the outcome.

The photo drone you saw won the 2014 International Intel Wearable Tech contest. It was not a part of a television show. I agree, I bet that was a fun day at the office!

Does everybody need to purchase Curie ModuleTM before participating in the contest? If so, how much does it cost? For instance, if a million contestants fork out US$ 100 for the program, boy are you ever sitting pretty.

If you're selected, the finished product must have a Curie Module in it. But no, you do not need to buy the Curie Module to enter or use it in a prototype.
