www.yousendit.com

For 100 MB, it's free. For up to 2 GB files, it starts at $5 per month.

Or, if you want to use ftp rather than email, use something like bluehost and use your domain's server space as remote storage.

There are several websites. But, if you are thinking of sending that size as file attachment to somebody, then it might inconvenience your recipient.

I use www.fileflyer.com to send files larger than 5 or 10 MB to people to keep their e-mail inboxes from getting full. The website will accept up to 400 MB attachments for free and automatically send an email with a link to the file. Try using winzip or winrar to shrink the file you are trying to send. be advised though, when using winrar, you can only unzip a winrar file if you have winrar but, if you use winzip then anyone using XP can unzip it with out having any additional software.

I'll be looking for a 1 GB free site.

Your best bet would be to use free file hosting service like Rapidshare. You should use something like 7zip or Winrar to break it up into 100 mb segments. Do this on your own pc & create MD5 hash for each segment.

Upload your segments to their server. Simply mail the link created by Rapidshare to the recipient along with the MD5 hash values & you are all done. The recipient can then download all the segments, check the MD5 hash values to verify the integrity & simply extract the master file from the segments.

There is no limit to the number of segments you may upload & it is totally free.

Other sites that offer similar services are Megaupload, Mediafire.com, mihd.net.

I use MediaMax.com which costs $40/year & allows you to upload your file then send a download link to whoever you want to receive the file. It also allows you to place time limits on the availability of the download.
