The equipment provided is usually down to the local by-laws and fire department. The sprinkle cover and operational times, connections to risers and locations of hydraunts are usually all local to the building by-laws. If there are none of these then local building regs normally allow you to quote a reference building in an internationally recognized building zone as your qualifier. If all else fails the local fire department is usually always ready to help as their men are at risk and they are usually interested in keeping them alive and making sure that they have easy access to the situation.

This may all appear to be a bit of a b.....s but software doesn't cover everything.

The design of fire safety equipment is a very important item. Only persons with an intimate understanding of the requirements of the codes and regulations of the local authority having jurisdiction as well as the national codes such as NFPA should dabble in something that so affects life and safety issues.

I certainly wouldn't want to learn that a project I took responsibility for in the area of "fire fighting equipment" burned to the ground. Even worse, what if human life was lost?

Have a qualified professional handle your high rise building!

It never hurts to be informed about all the important issues.

"professionals" don't always have the same priorties as end users.
