After about 100 reply to my post requesting opinions and experiences with Win. 10, I have decided to leave my computer running 8.1 for the foreseeable future. The only reason that I am using 8.1 is because I had to replace my dying XP computer last year, and 8.1 was the only thing available on the computers in my price range. I'll probably upgrade when I have to buy a new computer someday.

I've got Win 7 at work and the reviled 8.1 on my laptop at home.

I can get "free upgrades" on both.

I'm not going to change either until at least 9 months from now.

Just before I quite working in 9 months, I may load w 10 at work.

Then again, why torture myself?

It's too late MS is sneaking tracking software into the win 7 and 8 versions...

It took me 30 minutes to fine two of these stealth NSA like theft updates and undo them. Of the two hundred "upgrades" the other two stealth theft updates were still undetected.

MS sucks!!! Big time!

Why all the hate for window 10? I think its vastly better than 8.1

Engadgets Review - http://www.engadget.com/2015/07/28/windows-10-review/

Cnets Take - http://www.cnet.com/products/microsoft-windows-10/

and then the bad which solar pointed out

http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/08/30/windows-10-spying-on-windows-7-and-windows-8/

I have to confess hating 8.1 when I recently bought a lonovo horizon 2s (all in one / over sized tab), but upgraded to 10 for free and my experience has been improving.

As I've said before, when a person pays (too much) good money for an operating system they have a reasonable expectation that their personal privacy will be protected.

Apparently MS thinks it's fine to sell you a system with spyware already built in.

The user has no assurance that their personal data will not be used commercially, sold, and worst of all hacked by another set of thieves, other than the original ones microsoft themselves.

I agree.

I think this same point should be applied to mobile phones as well.

I wonder if non mobile based apple os collect data in a similar manner

Nothing would surprise me any more.

I think we are approaching a 1984 world in terms of a lack of privacy.

Windows 10 privacy concerns?

Not that I'm a Windows fan as of late but I will forward these article links that I received from my son who works in IT. He told me it's not as bad as I think. Maybe in my old age I get to thinking too many bad thoughts!

For what it's worth. Judge for yourself.

Article on the new privacy policies.

Article that addresses concerns that Microsoft can "look at files on your hard drive", spoiler-not true
