Please clarify your question!

Your first reply to this would be the primary clarifier and your second post the secondary clarifier!

Mechanically this is clear as new engine oil!!

One is primary and the other one is secondary. You might be able to see which one is which if you look at your process flow.

I would not put the secondary before the primary unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Did your internet search not yield any results so you have to shout at us?

I found lots of results in 2 seconds. So can you!

Simplistically speaking, the mechanism of a primary clarifier, in a waste water treatment plant, is to let gravity do all the work to draw the larger particles down to ''settle out'', individually.

Similarly, the mechanism of a secondary clarifier is to let some of the largest remaining particles (coalesce) enough to become heavy enough to settle-out as a ''floc'' of (several/many) smaller particles, collectively.
