I was slow on the uptake GA.

Judging strictly by the shape, I'd say its a thermal image of an aircraft carrier.

But that doesn't make sense because of the square cut-outs in the "deck".

Elevators are down?

Or, gone. they'd still be visible if they were there.

That would make the keyhole shape on the bottom the superstructure hole?

This must be an IR image of a scrapped carrier?

My first thought was a circuit board of some type, but I got here after the first 9 posts (yours included). So, is Solar Eagle right, that it was scrapped by a Nuclear test? Or was it just mothballed as part of a cleanup/drawdown in the fleet?

Whatever the reason/process, that is a strangely beautiful and somewhat haunting picture. I'll bet there are a lot of happy fish with a new home (and maybe Bruce and his buddies from Finding Nemo have moved in and fell off the wagon?).
