Some sort of robotic vehicle is always a good thing as it is very expandable..
Get the basic thing going...add sensors..navigation algorithms...grippers...maybe set it the task of traversing the floor recognising a can of beer and returning it?
Thre is tons you can do with it..and if you build it up piecemeal you can stop at any point and say...wow I finished!
It's not V original..but I promise it will be fun....16 char 1line display a few push buttons...two drive motors....cans of beer...
