How to calculate Torque produced by net

hi,

pleas tel me how to calculate torque ... when a M5 nut is threaded in to a disk...

that is how much torque is required to compress the disc by certain length

Shaking my head here. Are you trying to compress a disk or torque a bolt?

hello sir,

thank u for replying

i want to compressa rubber gasket of 5mm thikness to 3mm..................................with M5 nut and bolt ... for this how much torque is torque is required?

the tensile strength of rubber is 12.9 N/M2, and hardness of rubber is 61(Shore A)

pleas can u tel me how to get it...

Thats much better, not quite my line of work though.

Also, you will need to define the number of bolts and the area of gasket that needs to be compressed as this is also part of the equation - a larger area needs more torque for same compression, more bolts = less torque per bolt.......

I personally would have made the part and then measured the torque for each screw.....
