Finally, a REAL Hoverboard!

Considering the price tag, it is not for your average teen. Yet.

It seems like a heavy duty drone, with a pilot. I get the feeling this may get more use for floating cargo over difficult terrain than as a new form of recreation. I can envision it being used to rescue people quite easily.

Anyone else see a security problem here? You can think of concrete security barriers as "difficult terrain."

With a 3-6 minute battery life, I can't see much practical use, yet.

And, hovercraft are no longer a novelty, though practical ones are gas powered.

Sounds like trying to ride a bar of soap on ice.....I don't see the purpose of this at all....First of all, to log any riding time at all you would need a dozen of these gizmos...it's like hiring people to carry you everywhere, but with the twist that they might decide to throw you down at any time....??

Yeah, I'd like to see a video of the guy doing more than standing on it in one place, but it says it has stability software so I expect it is easier than it sounds, like a Segway or a wheeled hoverboard.

In 3 to 6 minutes you can probably accomplish something important, like carrying a rope across a small river or hauling an EMT to someone injured and stranded in a difficult place, or rescuing someone off a cliff face or a boat. Cheaper and less downdraft than a helicopter. I think it is already at a price and performance that might make it useful to fire departments and such.

As with all tech gizmos I expect the cost to plummet, and the hover time to soar, as batteries get better and cheaper.

This would seem to create a dust cloud where ever you went, and water, don't think so....certainly not anything to depend on in an emergency, I think I read it only flies at one foot altitude....so mountains....no

You may be right. The video said it could lift 243 pounds a foot off the ground. I can't tell from that how high it can get with less load.

Projected area is not big enough to allow use over a river. As it is in the clip it can be used ONLY on a hard ground.

It looks like fun, over a clean, level surface.

Some of the Aerospace engineers back when I was in college built a hovercraft, which they put on the road. Unfortunately, it had a tendency to slide off the crown of the road. I suspect that this would do the same. And I can see a great cloud of dust and debris blowing around if the surface was not clean.

I wonder how long it would take to pay for itself at an amusement park.
