the battery management system)BMS) is like Goldie Locks. it doesn't like the batteries to hot or too cold. each battery pack ( it isn't one huge battery) is made up of 100's of these

they are surrounded with tubing filled with coolant. the coolant is pumped through the pack to radiators under the car. the radiators also use fans. the BMS also works with the charging system to regulate voltage flow coming into the system while charging. the voltage and amperage can initially surge to great amounts when Supercharging if the pack is low. as the batteries charge the voltage tapers off to a lower steady flow as the batteries charge climb. heres a vid, you can watch the inrush of voltage and current on the lower right of the Tesla's screen on it's dash

What attribute of a battery, determines just how fast it can take a charge?

Usually internal resistance and ability to dissipate heat are the two primary factors.

Note to self:

Check for fire coverage during recharging before buying any electric vehicle.

This is why my lithium batteries are kept in a steel ammo box. I have 18650 batteries like the ones in a tesla that are 10000mAh each cell! That is a lot of juice to spill if there is a problem.

Fredski--The site has been taken down. (At least for my Mac). Wonder how long it took Elon Musk to flex a little muscle?

Which site? Both of the links he gave work just fine for me.

As for taking a site down to hide potentially bad publicity well after its content has hit the news and general forums that's a pretty lame PR play being that info has already been made a permanent part of the internet.
