Servo Valve

01/07/2016 11:05 AM

We are using servo valves (flow control ) operating current range is from - 40 mA to + 40 mA .What is the input current for the servo valve to make cylinder open ,cylinder close and to make it stationary. What is the fluid flow with respect to input current

Where are the operating range, zero, minimum, and maximum operational setpoint values been programmed?

The installer & programmer determine the control range and setpoint values when they configure the valve and controller based on the process application requirements and type of valve used.

Example 1: (Standard forward valve operation)

-40mA = Full Closed @ 0% flow

0mA = 50% open @ 50% flow

+40mA = Fully Open @ 100% (maximum) flow

Example 2: (Inverse valve operation.)

-40mA = Full Open @ 100% flow

0mA = 50% Open @ 50% Flow

+40mA = Full Closed @ Zero (0%) Flow

Example 3: (Clamped Signal Forward Operation)

-40mA = 10% open @ 10% Flow

0mA = 50% Open @ 60% Flow

+40mA = Full Open @ 100% Flow

You decide based on the process system requirements.

I suggest you read the OEM factory setup procedure for the valve and the controller then adapt it to your application.

If you do not understand the concept and/or the directions, your really need to contact the factory OEM technical support group for guidance before you have issue that cannot be solved or destroy the valve or cause unrecoverable damage to downstream equipment.

There are so very many other possibilities, too. +40 ma might extend the cylinder and -40 ma retracts the cylinder with 0 ma causing things to hold. Then there is the proportionality question. Will +10 ma be 1/4 of the position, velocity, acceleration or completely not any proportional value of the performance one gets from +40 ma.

How is the forum supposed to know when no-one here can see the equipment in question other than the Original Poster and the rest of the <...We...> (rhetorical question - NNTR)?
