Boiler Feed Pump Scoop

01/28/2016 9:11 AM

In my recent interview, One of the interviewer asked me How to calibrate the Boiler Feed Pump Scoop ?

Does anyone know ? I really don't know, I have never heard about scoop calibration.

If you know, please explain.

Thank you

Has to do with speed of the pump.

I'd do some research on the subject.

Scoop control and calibration would be a good place to start.

Yes, it has to with controlling a variable hydraulic coupling between motor (or turbine) driver and the driven pump. This is one way of controlling the bypass valve to mid-range, or at least a stable value, while providing a wider dynamic range of flow output to the boiler circuit.
