Feedback on a new idea

07/28/2007 10:09 PM

Hi Guys,

It appears to me that there is a lot of knowledge in the community and I am exploring a way to allow more people to benefit from your knowledge. The result is a website, www.engcom.net

There are a lot of news articles posted every day around the web however they only encapsulate one, or a small number of person's views on the topic. I would like to expand on that by allowing everyone in the community to add their bit to the news item.

We're trying to bring the most interesting news from around the world to one place and invite you to help us in not only finding that news but expanding on it also.

Regards

- Ryan

Bearing in mind that we are all bazy lastards.... a link would have been nice.

But isn't this what we already have?

I'm already soooo addicted to this site that I've dissabled my access at work...although I still have a peek from the boss's PC. I havn't shaved in 2 months and my wife has shacked up with a Harry Potter book for the weekend.

Sorry about the link. I figured it would automatically linkify the url's, i figured wrong.

Anywho, in reply to your question. It is similar to what you have here but different in that it's more of a critique on what's currently popular in the news.

In discussions with various people I often find that what the news reports can be quite different to other's opinions, and in some cases just blatantly wrong. When you get a whole heap of comments from a bunch of non biased people along with the article you can often find out a lot more.

Our site can even complement this one in that if a discussion is popular and interesting it could be the basis for a article posting on our site.

Hope this helps to illuminate things.

Has your site an automatic "free energy" item killer?

We need it here.

Sort of, Their names are Ryan and John :)

Although any registered member is free to submit an article (though it could also be a blog, a review etc ) we do moderate the list to make sure only the most interesting/relevant articles are published.

Ditto that! And ... Damnit Dell - Why'd you have to go and comment on "throbbing oil"? I actually went and looked for it.

Gotta stick with DTC on this one. I'm already spending WAAAAYY too much time on this site (just came back from a 2 weeks vacation and spent the last 2 days just reading through the various discussions - it IS addicting). I'd lose the wife/kids/house if I were to "embarque" on another one....sorry (now that I know about it, I'll probably still go see from time to time - DAMN YOU!!! )

Good luck with your site
