Any cable manufacturer will be able to give you the lbs./ft. or kg/m of any given size of cable. The insulation from one manufacturer is not going to weight much more or less than another, so all you really need to do is find one that publishes it on line.

Get the cable specs from the engineering firm designing the systems. Then get the weights and other specs from the manufacturer. Pardon my confusion but, this is rather elementary and you are in the business of cable management?!?!

Here is a link http://www.interfacebus.com/Copper_Wire_AWG_SIze.html to a chart giving the type of info. you need -- this is just a sample --- I just Googled and got, Results 1 - 10 of about 1,360,000 for data cable weight chart. (0.11 seconds) -- You are a student -- huh.

If you were in the cable management business you could do the research for necessary information very easily on your own.

Simply contact to cable's manufacturers around the world, they specify in their catalogs. Also contact to cable tranking (tray, ladder, conduit pipe) to get their specification related to cable weight.

First you need to ask yourself: How many amps can you fit into one volt?

The you multiply yourself by the kirchoff constant and voila!

As simple as eating pineapple!

Who ordered cables for your project? If your client, then they should have technical particular submitted by cable manufacturer to whom order is awarded. Normally, tender ask for technical particulars which covers all details. There is no standard weight and overall diameter for any specific cable as all country follows different standard for cable manufacturing. (1) In your country, you should find out cable manufacturer catalog from where you can take standard weight and overall diameter as reference. (2) As cable manufacturing is tailor made job, standard weight and diameter given in their catalogs may differ according to cables you may get on your project
