Stability Test for Generator

02/10/2016 1:35 AM

Would anyone say what is the acceptance level/criteria for Stability Test?
actually we are performing this test to confirm CT connections are set right. In this case acceptance criteria is achieved if differential current value doesnt exceed pickup value?? if any other means to be considered please guide me. Thank you

Turn it upside-down. If it turns itself back right-side-up, then it is stable. If not, then not.

I anticipated that your comeback as; 'give it a shove, if it falls over it is not stable"

This seems like a very convoluted way to "...confirm CT connections...". Are you assuming that if the unit remains stable then the connections are correct, how do you measure "instability", and what does differential current have to do with stability? You do know that if the connections are incorrect the control/protective systems will not operate properly and you could damage the unit.

Do it the proper way, hire an engineer experienced in commissioning a unit to guide you.

Anyone could say that it is pointless carrying out the test in the first place if the boundary between a successful outcome and an unsuccessful one were not determined beforehand!

You've never worked in R&D then? (Wreck and Destroy.)
