you can do two things to find out:

this topic has been discussed multiple times here on Cr4: here

or you can search google.

Referred earlier CR4 discussions. Observed that this issue was raised before and good responses were received.

Earlier discussions however could not close the issue.
The question "On what basis 11 KV (50HZ)/ 13.8 KV(60 HZ) is fixed as generation voltage" still remains to be clarified.

Hence same question reappears.

Generation is done at 13.2 KV. Sub Transmission voltage is 11KV.T

NVMANI

Please be assured that previous discussions have closed this issue.

Power company generator output is not fixed at 11kV. An alternator can be built to any output, within reason - the constraint being that these machines are indoors with people in direct contact with them - if you raise the output voltage of the machine then all associated insulation has to be of a higher standard.

The final output voltage of a generator is dictated by its associated "station transformer", this and the machine operates as a matched pair.

Countries who inherited the British system from the Empire engineers may have the voltages, 3.3kV, 6.6 Kv, 11kV. As the demand for power grew, this continued to upgrade to 33kv, 132kV, 275kV, 400kV. These voltages all being dictated by the distribution transformers and not the generator, and as 33Kv was post war it is unlikely that any country inherited this from Britain.

The most recent nuclear power stations in the UK have a generator voltage of 26.7Kv which is not divisible by this phobic number 11.

Alternator

The transformer equation says V=4.4 x flux x f x N,in which there is a factor 1.1.
