Happy to say there will be no change to the CR4 community. You can expect to find the same quality discussion and experience going forward.

There will be an announcement admin thread going up shortly. You can posed any questions directly to myself and the CR4 team there. (Except Savvy, who's earned a vacation.)

"Happy to say there will be no change to the CR4 community. You can expect to find the same quality discussion and experience going forward."

In other words, cranky Engineers offering plenty of sarcastic quips to people wandering in and asking the same stupid question that's been fielded three times already in the past two days.

Someone had to make the smart-aleck remark, might as well get it out of the way and done with.

I, for one, welcome out new IEEE overlords.

This was a merger waiting to happen....being able to access all this information from a single platform is real progress...

..."said IEEE President Barry L. Shoop. "We are committed to our mission of advancing technology for humanity, and we believe the synergistic benefits created through this acquisition - across content, standards, and communities - will better serve the needs of our members, professions, and customers."

Does the fact that IEEE is a non-profit effect my salary?

The correct usage is "affect" not "effect". Consider this payment for your earlier input to me pointing out my error in using "Fox" instead of "Faux"..

Your definition of "effect" is correct. It is a noun.

In "Does the fact that IEEE is a non-profit effect my salary?", the word following "non-profit" acts as a verb, with "my salary" as its object.

If I am reading and understanding you correctly, you agree that Solar Eagle used the wrong word. Since Solar Eagle defined "effect" as both a noun and a verb I guess he writes "politically correct" English.

Yes, I agree that the word was inappropriate for the intended meaning.

Among many places, http://www.diffen.com/difference/Affect_vs_Effect , and SE's own definition of "effect" as a verb indicate an initiation or cause, not a change in degree.

Getting a job will normally effect a salary (cause the salary to begin). Adding additional useful skills after having the job should hopefully affect the salary (change the amount of the salary).

You have to scroll down quite a bit before reaching the definition as a verb:

This confirms my previous statements.

No it is still doing it now, every time I move from topic to topic it pops up again. I guess it will be one of those annoying things I will have to just get use to. It is 6:15 now so it still is not fixed

Mozilla Firefox, everything else works fine just that pop-ups every time I come back to the site it starts all over again and does not stop until I leave. Maybe I will take out the hard drive and give it a shot of alcohol like I need to do myself from time to time. Do you think that will help?

Alcohol won't help. I have tried to hit the "ok" button several times in both W10 edge, and whatever the default browser is on a Raspberry Pi 3 with no success. I even tried doing the same with IE on the same machine that has the W10, still pops-up.

And yes, before somebody asks, I was drinking some home brew, but not enough to dull my troubleshooting skills!

You might try some real stuff from Jack Daniels Distillery. Usually works for me or I just forget about whichever comes first.

Couldn't find anything else to pass time? Not more annoying than your threads. Wonder why all your threads are under General Discussion?
