The War of Humans Against Robots has Begun

06/18/2016 2:23 PM

Bot traffic now makes up over half of web traffic and continues to be a struggle that seems to be increasingly difficult to deal with...Websites are constantly bombarded by ever increasingly clever bots that serve no other purpose than to direct web traffic to sites that pay these bot suppliers for every click they get from new traffic even if that traffic is unaware, not a potential customer, disinterested in the sites content....It's a game of numbers that is driven blindly by dubious mathematics and ignorant customers...and we are all the victims....

http://www.supremetrafficbot.com/

Now with AI coming on line and an ever increasing capability to mimic human conversation by these devious bots, we seem to be put in a position that seems indefensible as a help site to the public....Destined to be holding one sided conversations with machines that make little sense or don't respond at all...Separating the real from the artificial would seem simple enough in theory, what we need is a plan, a tripwire that exposes a bot....Ah yes the register with email before you can post strategy...How long would this work, or will it even work at all....We must look to the future, the future when conversations with machines become legitimate inquiries for knowledge, yes that day is coming.....

The good bots vs the bad bots....

https://www.incapsula.com/blog/bot-traffic-report-2015.html

Their uses have grown more sophisticated with time, they are being used to influence prices by bidding on items for sale online....so beware you may be bidding against a phantom....

The human brain doesn't stand a chance.

I know!

I'm really just an antagonistic chat bot that was designed by some former NASA Chimps that's been running on Windows 95 since mid 1997.

Hide in plain site and appear to be semi-useful but largely just start poo flinging fights over nothing of significance and humans will never know if you're one of them or not.

Sort of yes but then how many of us have witnessed first hand where that sociability aspect was working against the company and doing more harm than good and or ultimately lead to it's downfall.

That 'good ol' boys' club that every company seems to have that, for whatever reason, is more interested in company politics and personal gains than keeping the company afloat.

You can be the best of the best at what you do and be the #1 go-to guy for whatever it is the company does for the customer but if you're not in the club you will get back stabbed and cheated every chance that someone 'who is in the club' thinks they can get away with it.

Been there done that, and to be honest, many times would have preferred the cold hard logic of a machine over the 'insane petty social club' crowds actions and decisions.

Good Answer, from me.

As you say, down ''here'' on (terra-infirma),

out-of-sight is out-of-mind,

but now, ''here'' is (everywhere)...

"Twitch Tries to Exterminate Bot Infestation With Legal Action"

..."The document also spells out the specifics of the services, such as twitch-viewerbot.com's offer of 475 viewers, 300 chatters, and 4,000 followers for $38.99 per month. Twitch makes a strong case, and it's difficult to see how the sites in question could contest it."...

Upon further reflection, I think that's actually a very G(ood) A(nswer), so I gave you a GA.

The Big Question might then become;

''At that point in time, will either ''Siri'' or ''Alexi'' even know we're gone?...''

Thanks.

I expect that Siri and Alexi will have a hissy fit cat-bot fight eventually. At that point they will just trade cutting text messages to each other and the 4g system will crash.

So, where's a good (Matt_Dillon?)-bot, now that we need'em?...

Hopefully, a (Harry_Callahan)-bot won't be necessary, except as a last resort...

...Yes, alas, it must ultimately come to pass that even (female) technology will become fickle...

...oh, woe is us?...

I heard somewhere that the goal of artificial intelligence is to make machines as unreliable as people.
