FEA of interface

08/06/2007 5:27 AM

Dear all,

I've been meaning to simulate the interface between two polymers in order to have an idea of the influence of the properties of the two different phases (and of the interface) on the strength of the final product.

In the past I worked on something similar using ABAQUS but I have no access to this software now. I have tried to use Salome/Code Aster but I find it extremely difficult to get any results out of it, the documentation makes it really tough.

Can you suggest an open source/freeware software that could be used for this analysis in particular?

Thanks and all the best,

Fernando

I'd swear I'd just posted on this!!

There are some cheap FE packages (or were) like 'Comos' and 'Algor'. As for free one's, I don't know. I would be concerned that what you want to achieve might be beyond the scope of the 'common or garden' material models available in such packages, but then I hardly have an understanding of your problem.
