As air conditioning is provided to improve the comfort of occupants, if a room has no occupant then it doesn't need air conditioning equipment!

Quite so. In which case forced ventilation may be a more economic option. One cannot tell without more information.

My mate Shrödinger's Cat asks how can you tell if the room is cool if there is no one in it?

And believe me it's not easy to consult with that cat...whenever I turn up he's not there...but if I ring...ah...whatever...you get joke

If the enclosure is storing ice cream, it is no longer cool when the cream runs under the door!

Ah! That would require refrigeration as well as air conditioning. Good game, good game.

My feeble mind does not make much of a distinction between air conditioning and refrigeration, they are very similar processes. I have too much other clutter inside my gray matter to keep sorted out.

Hey, Del:

Maybe Shrodinger's Cat wasn't there, but Heisenberg may have been! We're just not certain!

If you have access to ASHRAE handbooks they will have a chapter on determining heat loads for unoccupied spaces. Determine load of any equipment in the space, the desired design temperature, the exterior temperature, calculate heat transfer through the walls, calculate any infiltration of air into the space (and there always is some infiltration).

Go to this site - all ASME based. You get a reasonable free period.

Various HAVAC programs.
