Voltage & Current Data Logger with PC Interface

08/27/2016 9:19 AM

Hi, do you guys have some recommendations on Lab instrument above, probably the cheapest around. Where can I possibly buy it?

I am having a thesis proposal and my study came across such measurement. Specification: probably 0-100V pulse, 0-10A with data acquisition interface either on line or later upload to a pc.

Hope somebody right here has some experience using those.

Thank you.

Try a google search on "data acquisition software" and see what pops up . There are some free programs with cheapish interface hardware.

This provides 2 analog channels 12 bit at the lowest price I have seen. You will need voltage divider probes and current shunts for your input ranges. You will also need to consider if you need isolation between the channels. The isolation of a laptop PSU is adequate for normal mains voltage with care e.g. if the shunt is measuring neutral current & second channel is line voltage. I paid more than this 9 years ago for a two channel 12 bit USB oscilloscope/data logger for my laptop, but it has proved its worth many times. You can download files into a format suitable for more elaborate off-line software - I can recommend SIGVIEW from personal use.

What bandwidth do you need to capture the pulse? The rise time will give you an idea of the bandwidth that you need. That will drive your sample rate unless you only need to capture the peak of said pulse. There are many devices on the market but you will need to be a little more specific to ensure you get an instrument to meet your requirements.

I found this to be cheapest one: https://www.picotech.com/data-logger/drdaq/overview
