Bolt is a externally threaded fastener designed for insertion through holes of assembled parts and is tightened and released by torquing a nut.

Screw is a externally threaded fastener capable of being inserted into holes of assembled parts such that its threads mate with the internal threads of the assembled parts and is tightened or loosened by turning its head.

Screw: the generic name of articles having ridges. when mentioned in contrast to the bolts, the generic name of acticles having external threads to be used without assembling with nuts.(no 2401 JIS-B0101).

Bolt: the generic name of the externally threaded fasteners to be used, in combination with the nuts (no. 2501 JIS -B0101).

That is the difference between screw and bolt.
