Snaps For Connecting Two Plastic Parts

12/22/2016 9:43 AM

I have seen unique snaps to connect the 2 parts of a TV Remote case (it allows for opening and reconnecting)

I am looking for a CAD module that describes how to design this type of male/female snap?

Thanks

This is not Fantasy Land.

You need a module education that teaches you how to design things in general or a paid designer who can do your work for you.

This is the second time this week that you want someone to do your job for you.

Pay someone.

This is odd, I posted a reply here yesterday but it does not seem to have appeared so here it is again, try here.

Talk to your molder or mold builder. You will need to know type of material to be used, expected durability (cycles), and other things I won't go on about. Look at your TV remote, that will give you the answer for that application. It's referred to as 'reverse engineering' and it's very common.

If you have used the mold shop in the past, they might give you a direction for free. If not, expect to be sent to an engineer that will need paid.

The question on its own is ambiguous. Each snap is somewhat unique; depending on use, material, and position. Here's a hint: A snap (latch) for acrylic is quite different than one for polypropylene.

I do have a photo of this type of snap used in many remotes (ABS).

It is a CONNECTOR that is very strong and easy to put together and even allows for removal of the 2 parts but seems to break off pieces of itself in some cases.

If you would like, private message me your info and we can exchange requirements for your project. We can discuss costs at that time if the project is feasible.
