New Photos of the Next Mars Rover

During my daily morning web surfing, I stumbled across pictures of a new Mars rover prototype.

Prototype is a key word here! There is very little public info about this next-gen, next-world concept car.

What we do know is that it incorporates a lot of use of specialty-type SeaDek (marine flooring and surface materials), apparently on the interior as well as the exterior. (Here's the Instagram video of it rolling quite slowly.) It was assembled by Parker Brothers Concepts, a custom car manufacturer in Cape Canaveral, Fla., who have previously manufactured things like TRON motorcycles and the Tumbler AKA Batmobile from Batman Begins.

Inferences based on the two images here: there's a windshield, so it seems like it carries human passengers. And those seem like PV panels on the sides of the cargo holds.

Anyhow...speculate away!

The streamlining is there to help speed its approval through Congress. The final vehicle won't look anything like that.

No, the final vehicle that passes through NASA's budget after the political hacks get done hacking will look like this:

I tried to find the actual, but I could not find any that rolled out of Henry Ford's plant without the spare.

Parker Brothers - Didn't they used to make Tonka Trucks?

Here comes the bus! Lots of passenger room, although they have to be the first weebles in outer space! Had to remove some of the seating for gear, Keebler crackers, CheezIts, and Juicy Juice, and the weeble space suits also take up more room.

The streamlining is for shedding Martian dust during the fierce windstorms, and to shed the vortnados.

Did that thing get its inspiration from the NatGeo series, The Red Planet?

Why not make one that jumps instead of rolling, sort of like the alien daughter ships in the Movie "Battleship", that would make for one heck of a Parker brothers game.

I don't suppose hopping like a frog, or jumping like a grasshopper is more efficient than rolling?
