What is This Round Nut Called?

That may be too much of a custom job to have a recognized name. Sort of a combination of a barrel nut and a flange nut. The enclosure mfr might know.

Contact the cabinet mfr if you have or can find that info.

In my big book of fasteners they are just referred to as 'Expensive nuts'.

I dunno, A hickory nut? Not big enough and too round to be a walnut.

Go here. I think its a type of pallet nut. This page shows almost exactly what you have, but if I google pallet nut, they don't have the hex heads.

It resembles a threaded PEM standoff designed to be pressed into a panel except for the double collar.

A 'custom' shoulder nut or 'barrel' nut

looks like a riveted nut

The hex base stops rotation

not a nutsert / rivetnut. These are pulled like a rivet and compress - expanding to fill a hole.

Finish giving the dimensions for it and give it to a local hobby machinist.

If you have a machine shop in your factory they could probably make a couple of nuts for you in less time than it takes to read all the responses on CR4.

Just don't ask them for a metric adjustable wrench to tighten it with.

Another term you might find useful in searching is "sex screws". No kidding!

But whatever you do: don't do an image search for "sex nuts".

In UK it is known as a Nutsert - some one has already mentioned it and available from PEM company who make things like these which fit into sheet metal by riviting.

In the picture it does look quite a but like a "Pem Nut" or a "nutsert." This does not have the knurled perimeter or the sharp lip for the compressed aluminum to flow into. Thanks for trying.

An image search for "shoulder nut" gets close but what you really need is a "double shoulder nut".

Maybe you could manage with a shoulder nut and threaded sleeve.

Thank you. That appears to be a match for the assembly. Last night I had some success doing a search on "Enclosure Door Stop" and "Enclosure Door Stop Arm." Basically the same thing.

I never heard of a step nut, but that sounds right. The sliding action is when the arm is using one "step" of the nut and the holding (or staying) action is when the arm is resting on the other "step." Thank you.

For the sliding arm, you want a bevel between the steps so that the nut can ride up into the slot in the arm or ride down into the hole at the end without snagging. That's why the nut in your OP has that bevel.

The common industry name is an embedded nut, or a captive nut.
