Most drives do not use CTs because they are inherently inaccurate in a harmonic rich environment. VFDs typically use Hall Effect transducers to determine output current.

I have experience of dealing faults in Siemens Simovert Master Drives, Fuji Frenic Drives and Danfoss VLT Drives, all three uses C.Ts at output to measure current.
