Mosquitoes are not as susceptible to attraction to UV or other lights. Mosquitoes are susceptible to attraction to CO2. CO2 generating traps that run off of propane or natural gas, often also with an electrical connection can be very effective.

Much cheaper to stir some yeast into a little sugar water.

Now you have about 5 days of free CO2, with a built-in trap.

Yep, and that is effective, like any stale beer would be.

Beer seems to draw in all manner of thirsty animal kingdom members.

I've never seen a stale beer in Florida.

These are all attractants not repellants....

Put up a ring around an area that emits carbon monoxide. It has the same molecular mass as nitrogen, so it fits well with air. It might not repel, but it might...just...kill...everything...including the guests. Too bad. This almost would make Zyklon B seem humane.

Nothing repels mosquitoes, except intense cold, or even more intense heat--hot enough to singe their wings off, cold enough to make them embrittle during flapping, and fall off. I do not mind cruelty to mosquitoes.

Mosquitos are weak fliers. A half-stiff breeze provided by an electric fan is enough to keep them away. Fans also disperse CO2, a major mosquito attractant. Depending on what you need, an air curtain should be enough to keep them out of a doorway.

I have one of those high voltage rackets that will dispatch the miserable little buggers with a gratifying spark and a snap. It's effective and fun.

Yes, there are, and you can google that and find them. They emit carbon dioxide to attract mosquitoes (and other flying insects), and then zap them with a jolt of electric spark.

You could try this product, available from Australia:

https://www.jaycar.com.au/photocatalyst-mosquito-trap/p/YS5516

Alternatively if you have the services available of an electronics technician, they could build you this:

http://www.siliconchip.com.au/Issue/2016/October/Lure+%2526+Liquidate+Lovelorn+Zika+Virus+Mozzies

Happy hunting!

The first address you provided describes a common theme among electric only mosquito traps:

"...When the ultraviolet light in these units shines onto the titanium dioxide, it will emit carbon dioxide through a photocatalytic reaction. ..."

This doesn't make a lot of sense. Where is the carbon supposed to be coming from to make the CO2?

Is it supposed to come from the carcasses that will be attracted to the CO2? That runs into causality problems. Also getting enough carbon from desiccated mosquitoes to contact the catalyst and provide enough CO2 to lure mosquitoes would be very difficult, especially for a passive system in air.

Now that's interesting!! Male Aedes aegypti mozzies go gaga over females in flight, attracted by the sound of their beating wings. Love hertz!

Re: Electric Powered Mosquito Repellent

Most of use in West Texas practice art only to the degree that we can "draw flies"!

Repelling mosquitoes is harder than attracting them (hopefully somewhere else).

Any electromagnetic radiation field that would repel them probably would be considered to be "harmful levels of radiation" by the FCC here in the USA.

Nuclear radiation - repelling the mosquito would be the least of your worries.

Chemicals - they might harm you or the workers more than the mosquito that would be waiting happily for you to leave the cloud of vapor, etc. They also might impart an off-putting flavor to produce, or affect the shelf life.

Why not just install mosquito traps and use electronic carbon dioxide generators (perhaps with low level pheromones that some humans emit ) to attract the mosquito to a place they may enter but not be able to leave?

Only known safe repellent for humans for use against mosquito:

some items that have been tried as mosquito repellent

"The University of Florida recommends using insect repellents containing DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus as the active ingredient. Because these products contain chemicals, always follow the product label instructions closely and only apply the product to parts of the skin that are exposed. You may have to reapply the product to maintain its efficacy."

That is about all I can find that is supported scientifically. I find that slathering up with soybean oil might work, if there is enough oil to make the skin slippery to the insect, or drown it in oil. I can't imagine how a worker would be expected to sweat through all that oil...
