Automated SCADA Functional Testing

Can't you just do manual SCADA point to point checking to see that the IO is being passed through correctly to confirm correct functionality?

Potentially, however we're looking at "Factory Acceptance Testing" (FAT). As such it's more so confirming correct structure and operation of pages, layouts and graphics rather than just the IO. I'm thinking something along the lines of code checks to ensure everything is in correct working order, similar to tools that web developers use to check their html.
