Singapore F1 Race 2017 Vettel Crashes Out!!

09/18/2017 3:16 PM

I watched the race live and recorded it twice on two different recorders!

F1 nut?

I was watching the footage for the umpteenth time, and I suddenly noticed how close Vettel got to Hamilton, just after the crash!

Him knowing his car is losing water, told by the box crew!! He knows he cannot finish.....

Then a few hundred yards later, and I have the cockpit video of Vettel, he spun his car apparently for little or no reason, on a straight.....right in front of Hamilton....

After that, he drives backwards for a bit, then spins the car expertly and brings it to a safe place.

The car was still drivable....but losing water! So not for long....

I have the impression, that he was trying to take out his rival (Hamilton), just as Schumacher did several times over the years. And he made two attempts.....

Its not even the first time he has tried to take Hamilton out:-

What do you think?

The video is online in many places if you don't have a copy....

I was watching on channel 4 and the commentators said Vettel spun on his own leaking fluid. I suppose that could happen if it was spraying on his tyres.

When you see the speed at which he spun I don't think he instigated it, he barely had time to react and when he was going backwards he was travelling slow enough that someone with his skill level could keep it in a safe direction till the traffic cleared, and they can all spin those cars round 180 deg.

Having said all that I'm no fan a Vettel and was very pleased that Hamilton managed to stay clear of the carnage and go on for the win.

Firstly, immediately after the big crash, he overtook Hamilton, travelling FAR faster than Hamilton (why?), cutting in hard from the left (why?), totally unnecsarily as he already knew (radio from Box) that his car was mortally "wounded"!

That was the first attempt. It failed.

I also still have the footage from Vettel's onboard camera on my SAT Receiver, showing the steering wheel, I have run it through at 1/8 speed, he definitely caused the spin in front of Hamilton!!

That was the second attempt.

And it also failed (perhaps Hamilton expected it?), as Hamilton simply steered away and around him.......

I am sure that the SAT footage I have will be on the internet, allowing anyone here to see it and judge for themselves. I am lucky in that I can change the speed and thereby observe better...

If the spin was caused by the leaking water of Vettels car (why did it gave any EXTRA effect on a RAIN DRENCHED Tarmac?), the spin would start BEFORE any correction was made, but its the other way round!! The "correction" was made a split second, before...... Remember, Vettel's car was travelling in a straight line at that time! If he had been on ice, as there was no corner, he would have carried on straight!!

This shows most of the footage I have described, but not the start of the spin of Vettel's, which by the way, on a wet track, could have been started with too much heavy right foot as well.....

I haven't had the luxury of watching it in slow motion and the last thing I would want to do is defend Vettel. I'm pretty sure though that there are people in F1 with all the data and all the video footage who will have analysed it and come to a conclusion of foul play or not.

I would also guess that the water in Vettels car isn't rain water and probably has additives which may make the car handle differently to just being in rain water. I do agree though that a heavy right foot would cause the spin but he was probably rattled after the hit and in the split second to make that judgement he may have just got it wrong.

Anyway, I'm at work just now so can't rewatch it, might have time later and get back to see what others are saying.

I don't think it was deliberate although it may have crossed his mind. Vettel may well look back at this race & see where he lost the championship. I would have loved to hear the post race chat between Vettel & Raikkonen
